Il Marchesato

The story of Il Marchesato begins in the early 1930's, when Claudio Chiappero's grandfather made a living mending umbrellas. His trade went on without significant changes for many years.

In 1970, Claudio started thinking about his grandfather's trade, fascinated by his tales; little by little he began to develop a passion for umbrellas. Finally in 1978, with his wife Antida, he founded Il Marchesato, with the purpose of turning a simple functional object of every day life into an object of beauty. Something that goes beyond mere protection from rain.

Today, Il Marchesato focuses on making things better. Not only by employing the best components, but also taking great care in the selection of fabrics - all of which are manufactured in Italy. They use fiberglass ribs for most of the umbrellas, and are fitted with scotch-guard, double-resin coating fabrics that make them suitable for most rainy climates.

One of the best features of Il Marchesato umbrellas, however, is the constant search for an elegant style. The coupling of colors, patterns and materials bring forth a unique style. Those who love beauty in umbrellas appreciate design and quality of materials, together with high manufacturing standards. They can easily guess that behind every Il Marchesato umbrella there is the love and passion of the person who created it.

Il Marchesato is located in Saluzzo, located in the Piedmont region (54 km from Turin and 220km from Milan)
